Client Brief
The client approached us wanting a comprehensive garden room to combine multiple lifestyle elements in one cohesive space.
They required a versatile main room to work as a home office and garden gym. Separate to this, they also wanted a dedicated outdoor sauna room with a large overhang and decked area for their two person jacuzzi to create a real wellness and relaxation retreat.
Our Solution
We designed an impressive 8.1m x 3.5m structure to house the three distinct zones of the build. The rooms were built onto our preferred stainless steel garden screws using Structural Insulated Panels.
The main multi-purpose garden room measures 5.5m x 3.5m. This gives plenty of space for both a home office setup and gym equipment complete with weights, a bike and a cross trainer.
A high-end 1.3m x 2.6m sauna room adjoins the main space. Although compact, you can easily fit three people in the sauna, which is kitted out with a 6kW Harvia Moderna heater and thermo aspen timber. Outside the sauna cabin, there’s a generous 2.2m x 2.6m covered decking area creating the perfect sheltered environment for the client’s jacuzzi.
The main garden room features a sliding door to the front and a practical side entrance door. There are two floor-to-ceiling windows and a skylight recess in the gym area to flood the whole area with natural light.
Although this garden room and sauna is built next to the boundary, the maximum height of the structure is 2.5m, meaning everything complies with permitted development regulations. You can read more on outdoor sauna planning permission here.
