Client Brief

The client first approached us with an exciting and slightly different brief – she needed a dedicated garden room to run her hairdressing business from home.

The space needed to function as a fully professional garden salon studio whilst including a separate storage room for supplies and equipment. This was a great project for us, showing how a bespoke garden room can serve as a premises to help a local business.

Garden Salon Solution

We designed a spacious 6.3m x 3.2m garden studio using our SIP panel construction to delivering excellent insulation performance for a comfortable working environment year-round.

With the foundations, we made smart use of the existing concrete base on site. As the garden room would be slightly bigger than the existing slab, we extended it by 1m using four additional stainless steel ground screw piles to achieve the full footprint. This pragmatic approach saved time and cost whilst delivering the same solid, reliable base.

The impressive 3m aluminium sliding doors in anthracite create a lovely, professional entrance and let in excellent amounts natural light – always useful in a hairdressing salon!

The internal partition divides the space into the main salon measuring 3.8m across and a separate storage room measuring 2.1m – both great spaces in their own right. The store room is accessed round the side of the garden room via a set of 1300mm double doors with frosted glass.

As all sides of this garden room are visible from the outside, the client decided to clad all elevations in Thermowood redwood. This decision gives the space a fantastic appearance. The anthracite roof, fascia, soffit, guttering and downspout tie the whole exterior together beautifully. To complete the working hair salon garden room, we installed a water heater and storage unit to provide hot water for the hair wash station.

Our garden rooms Cheshire team delivered the full project within three weeks – the first week of which the client was away. She couldn’t believe it when she came back to a full new building!
